Bogomil Nikolov (b. 1943) is one of the most important medallists working today. In 1996 he

where from 2002 he has been professor from 2002. He created the department’s Medallic
Sculpture Studio and led it until 2016. He has been the recipient of many awards, including

world. His medal, Acta est Fabula, was issued by BAMS in 1990.

His second medal for BAMS is titled Of Birds and Men. Nikolov describes it as ‘a
multitude of distraught birds circling a blasted tower’. He explains: ‘The medal appears to me
as the expression of primaeval fears, made all the more acute in the present day.’
