 BOOKINGS NOW CLOSED

Join BAMS for a conference based in Příbor, the birthplace of Sigmund Freud. Participants will book their own accommodation and transport to and from the venue.  Details about accommodation and transport are set out in the attached documents (see links below). The weekend will be the 4th time BAMS conference has been held outside of the UK and it promises to be a most memorable event.  The conference is to be centred around The Jane McAdam Freud Gallery in Sigmund Freud Square and at the nearby Cultural Centre.  The conference will commence at 5pm on Friday until approximately 2pm on Sunday.

Our weekend will begin at the Jane McAdam Freud Gallery for drinks and an opportunity to view the exhibition on show at the gallery. An informal show and tell session will allow delegates to talk about the medals they have brought along, and this will be followed by dinner at a nearby restaurant.  The same restaurant will open exclusively for BAMS delegates to breakfast together on both Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Our base for Saturday activities will be the nearby Cultural Centre, where we have a full programme of lectures planned as well as lunch and evening dinner.

Our guest speakers are to include:

  • Peter Henson, our host in Příbor, on the Jane McAdam Freud Gallery.
  • Hanna Jelonek, Polish artist and sculptor, talking about her Adam medal and other work.
  • Tanya Szrajber, Collections Manager, with an introduction to the medal collection of The Goldsmiths’ Company, London.
  • Philip Attwood, President of FIDEM, on the subject of Frank Bowcher in India.
  • And talks by Czech artists and guests including Kateřina Nora Nováková, Czech Delegate to FIDEM, on Jiří Dostál, one of the most important Czech medallists of today.

The society’s AGM will be held on the Saturday as part of the weekend.

The delegate fee is £160 per person and includes:

The Friday evening drinks reception and dinner. Breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday. Lunch, refreshments and dinner on Saturday at the Cultural Centre and lunch on Sunday after the workshop.

Attendees must arrange their own accommodation in Příbor or nearby. A wide range of accommodation is available through the internet. Click here for more accomodation details

A full programme will be sent to booked delegates in advance.

We very much look forward to seeing you in the Czech Republic!
