Nature in the Round: Ron Dutton Medals 1974 – 2017
Back
The exhibition, running from 27 May until 23 July in Wolverhampton Art Gallery, showcases the work of Ron Dutton, widely acknowledged as one of the pioneers of the art medal form in the UK and one of the most prominent and celebrated medal artists working today.
Nature in the Round explores the creative evolution of Dutton’s work, from his earliest medals to his recent abstract and experimental pieces. The exhibition highlights the artist’s influences: from nature, to birds, flight, space travel and the architecture of Wolverhampton. Together, these works redefine the medal as a unique combination of sculpture, visual art and poetry.
