Lecture to be given by Chris Barker – Royal Mint

The niece of the soldier Lord Kitchener, Madge Kitchener is perhaps best known for her work on the thrift plant design which appeared on the threepence from 1937. But prior to this she had long harboured a passion for medallic art and the talk will take a closer look at her work and dealings with the Royal Mint. Was this a lost opportunity to nurture and develop a talented medallic artist?

Talks are held in person at Cutlers’ Hall, London WC4 at 17:30 prompt and we hope to share them via Zoom.   Zoom links will be sent to members in advance.
