Medals of Myth and Memory, the hand held art of Linda Crook

Linda Crook will show examples of her medallic art. She will talk about her work, bringing out the stories behind the medals made over the last 35 years and some of the consequences of having made them.

Linda Crook is an artist working in sculpture, painting and print making and other media. She studied at Camberwell and did an MA at Goldsmiths. She has been making medals for over 30 years. Her medallic art is in the collections of the British Museum, the V&A, the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, the Ashmolean Museum and the Fitzwilliam Museum, as well as major museums in Berlin, Warsaw and Beijing. Her series of medals Cuando sale la luna was shown in a touring exhibition La Imagen Humana organised by the Caixa Forum and the British Museum, touring six major cities in Spain, 2021–2.  Linda has long been a member of The British Art Medal Society and has acted as mentor to two former BAMS New Medallists.  In recognition of her achievements, Linda was presented with The Marsh Award for the Encouragement of Medallic art in 2025.

The talk is to be held at The Goldsmiths’ Centre, 42 Britton Street, London, EC1M 5AD    Pre-booking is essential for this event to gain access to the building. BAMS members wishing to attend should book a seat by emailing [email protected] before 20^th January.

The evening will commence with a welcome drink at 6pm with the lecture commencing at 6:30pm.      We hope to share the talk as a Webinar for BAMS members who are unable to attend in person.
